Care guide

How to keep your Modern Yogi mat in good shape — and what to do if something needs attention.

After every practice

Wipe the surface with a damp cloth. Plain water is enough. Hang the mat to air dry before rolling it away — storing it damp invites mildew, especially in humid months.

Roll loosely. Tight enough to fit on a shelf or in the carrier, no more.

A cleaning ladder

Most mats only need the first step. Move down the ladder as required.

Damp cloth — after practice, as above. This is enough for the majority of practitioners.

Steam clean or a carpet and upholstery cleaning spray — for spot cleaning between deeper washes. Both work on the cotton top without saturating the rubber base.

Machine wash on a gentle cycle with mild detergent, then hang dry. No bleach, no fabric softener. Never tumble dry — heat damages the rubber base.

A note on machine washing CottonGrip mats: repeated washes will degrade the anti-skid layer slightly faster than spot cleaning. The mat will keep gripping and functioning normally — the difference is minute — but if you want to maximise lifespan, lean on the damp cloth, steam, or spray methods between machine washes.

Avoid submerging the mat by hand. Prolonged water exposure can weaken the cotton-to-rubber bond on CottonGrip.
