Loop through the foot in supta padangusthasana, hold the ends without lifting the shoulders. The belt extends the arms toward the body the hamstrings have not yet allowed.

Marichyasana, ardha matsyendrasana, baddha konasana — the belt gives the hands a destination when they cannot yet meet. The D-ring closes the loop without slipping.
